Kasim and Suleiman Khan, sons of Imran Khan, disclosed in an interview with Sky News that they have requested visa and intend to visit Pakistan in January so that they can see their father, ex-prime minister. The brothers showed great concern regarding the conditions in Imran Khan prison, claiming them to be horrible and calling his cell a death cell with very dim lighting, foul water and bad facilities.
They also pointed to the emotional burden of not seeing or talking to their father in months and that social media rumors about his health had left them jarring and intensely stressful. Nevertheless, they emphasized that Imran was still dedicated to his objective of combating corruption in Pakistan and would not trade personal safety and comfort.
The brothers urged the international community to ensure Imran Khan’s human rights are respected, including access to family visits, his personal physician, and independent monitoring of his prison conditions. They also plan to raise awareness about his situation in Brussels and Geneva.
Meanwhile, the government has denied claims of solitary confinement, noting that Imran has met with family members and lawyers multiple times since his incarceration.
Kasim and Suleiman said their father’s popularity is what worries those in power, adding that the former premier is unlikely to make any political compromises. They emphasized that their main priority is finding ways to support him and ensure his safety during imprisonment.
