Man declared dead from COVID-19 returns home after two years, family had performed last rites

After being declared “dead” due to COVID-19 at a hospital, a 40-year-old man’s family performed his last rites. However, the man has now returned home from Gujarat after spending two years in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district.

On Saturday, Kamlesh Patidar surprisingly emerged in the doorway of his family’s home, two years after they had conducted his final rituals, indicating that he was not actually deceased.

During the second wave of COVID-19, Kamlesh Patidar fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. After being declared dead by the physicians, his family members conducted his funeral rites. According to his cousin Mukesh Patidar’s statement to reporters on Saturday, the hospital handed them the “body.”

In Baroda, Kamlesh was declared deceased, and his family was presented with a body covered in a plastic sheet before it was cremated.

On Saturday, Kamlesh Patidar surprisingly emerged in the doorway of his family’s home, two years after they had conducted his final rituals, much to the shock of his wife, Rekha Patidar, who believed him to be deceased. Upon seeing her husband, she was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears.

Following the emotional outpouring of his relieved family, Patidar disclosed to them that he had been abducted by a gang who allegedly administered drugs to render him unconscious.

According to one of his relatives, Patidar revealed that following his recovery from COVID-19, he was held captive by a group of six individuals in Ahmedabad who consistently injected him with drugs, rendering him unconscious throughout his confinement.

Patidar was being driven during the Friday incident when the group stopped for a pit stop at a wayside motel to buy refreshments. Unknown to them, Patidar was awake and noticed a passenger bus traveling between Ahmedabad and Indore, which he swiftly boarded while the gang was distracted.
