Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal briefly dropped off a live interview with Waseem Badami when his video link cut unexpectedly. He returned moments later to confirm “all is well.” The incident sparked social media discussion, but Iqbal clarified it was caused by children entering his study during a family gathering.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal experienced a brief disruption during a live television interview with Waseem Badami on Thursday. The minister’s video link suddenly went offline, alarming viewers. A person can be heard saying, “shut this down (bund karo isay)” as the connection dropped.
The host quickly addressed the viewers’ concern, asking if everything was okay. Iqbal returned to the live broadcast moments later and reassured, “all is well.” The host continued the programme, noting only eight to ten minutes remained.
Ahsan Iqbal later explained the incident on X. He said a minor disruption occurred due to an argument nearby, unaware that he was live on air. He thanked people for their concern and asked to avoid politicising the situation.
Social media clips of the disconnect circulated widely, leading to different claims. Some users suggested the video feed was forcibly cut. Journalists confirmed with Iqbal that children unexpectedly entered his study during a family gathering at his Islamabad residence, causing the temporary interruption.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar also confirmed the explanation. He said, “kids came into the study running unexpectedly,” and reaffirmed that Iqbal had rejoined the programme and everything was normal.
