Pakistan Airspace Closed for 48 Hours, All Airports Including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad Shut Down

In an unexpected move, Pakistan airspace has been closed for 48 hours, leading to a complete suspension of all domestic and international flights across the country. Major aviation hubs such as Lahore Airport, Karachi Airport, Islamabad Airport, and Sialkot International Airport have ceased operations amid heightened security concerns.

The Islamabad International Airport has been entirely shut down for incoming and outgoing flights. Sources confirmed that all inbound flights are now being redirected to Karachi Airport. For instance, Saudi Airlines flight SV-726, which was en route to Islamabad Airport, has been rerouted to Karachi.

Passengers have been strongly advised not to travel to any Pakistan airport, including Allama Iqbal International Airport (Lahore Airport), which is now officially closed. Authorities have instructed travelers to return home and await further instructions from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

“Normal operations will resume once the situation stabilizes,” stated a CAA spokesperson, while refraining from disclosing specific reasons for the Pakistan airspace closure.

While the official reason for the nationwide flight suspension remains undisclosed, officials hinted that the decision is part of broader national security protocols. Security sources have linked the closure to increased tensions near the Srinagar region, although this has not been confirmed by government officials.

PIA Cancels All Flights for 12 Hours

Adding to the disruption, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the cancellation of all flights for the next 12 hours. A PIA spokesperson cited operational concerns related to the current security situation.

“Passengers should stay in contact with PIA helplines for flight updates,” the spokesperson added.

Sialkot and Other Pakistan Airports Closed

Alongside the suspension at Islamabad International Airport and Allama Iqbal International Airport, Sialkot International Airport has also halted all operations. The airport management confirmed that the decision was taken in response to instructions from the Government of Pakistan as a preventive safety measure.

As of now, all Pakistan airports are on high alert, and the situation is being closely monitored. Authorities have promised further updates as the situation unfolds.
