Head of WHO warns the world to prepare for a deadly pandemic, even worse than the coronavirus.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has issued a warning that the world needs to be prepared for the next inevitable pandemic, which could be even more deadly than the coronavirus.
Speaking at a World Health Agency meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, the WHO Chief said that new diseases are emerging from new strains of viruses, and there is a looming threat of another novel pathogen (a disease-causing agent) that could be more dangerous than the coronavirus.
He emphasized the need for us to be prepared and to take proactive measures against such threats, ensuring readiness at both the community and global levels.
Tedros addressed the member countries of the WHO, stating, “We will not be able to prevent it if we do not make fundamental changes. If we have not taken any steps yet, when will we?”
