Australia informed it had recognized China’s Sinopharm vaccine for travelers in the country.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia (TGA) said it had received some additional information about sinopharm. It shows that the vaccines provide protection and potentially reduce the transmission of infection. It is to protect the travelers to cause seriously illness with COVID-19.
Australia’s recognition of the Chinese vaccine comes at a time when bilateral relations between the two countries are at an all-time low. It cause due to Canberra’s demand for an investigation into the origin of the corona virus.
The country also recognized Covaxin, developed by India Biotech.
A TGA statement said Canberra had already approved another Chinese vaccine developed by Sinovac
Recognition of the Chinese and Indian vaccines means citizens of China, India, and other countries will now be considered fully vaccinated upon entry into Australia.
It would have significant impact on the return of international students. The travel of skilled and unskilled workers to Australia would also be ease.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Australia, 172,030 COVID-19 cases have been reported, including 1,743 deaths.
