In anticipation of the grand New Year’s Eve celebrations, Dubai Police has revealed an extensive traffic management plan, including major road closures beginning at 4 pm on December 31. Abdul Rehman Obaid Juma Al Falasi, a representative from the traffic department, emphasized the importance of early planning and public transport usage for those heading to popular festivities in the Downtown area.
Timings for Road Closures:
- Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard: Closure starts at 4 pm.
- Financial Road (Upper Level): Closure at 8 pm.
- Financial Road (Lower Level): Closure at 4 pm.
- Al Asayel Road: Closure at 4 pm.
- Sheikh Zayed Road: Closure at 9 pm.
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic during these closures, diversions will in place on Sheikh Zayed Road. Therefore, revelers advised to plan ahead and explore alternative transportation options to avoid the inconvenience of road closures.

The comprehensive traffic plan spans 32 locations outlined in the event committee’s security and action plan. From the scenic landscapes of Hatta to the iconic landmarks of Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab, each area has strategically designated for a memorable New Year’s celebration.
To cater to the diverse needs of attendees, Al Falasi shared insights into the preparations. This year, 30 supporting tents will strategically placed across these areas, offering essential support and resources, including food supplies, water, restroom facilities, and a dedicated lost-and-found service.
The groundwork for this spectacular event began three months ago, with the collaborative efforts of the Event Preparation Committee. Key stakeholders, such as the Roads and Transport Authority, Civil Defence, and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance, have actively involved in shaping the comprehensive New Year’s Eve plan. A total of 55 internal and external partners have united on the committee, highlighting the collective commitment to ensuring a seamless and joyous celebration for residents and visitors alike.
