First Muslim Woman Pilot of Kashmir Makes History

Iram Habib, a young and enthusiastic lady has become the first Muslim woman pilot of Kashmir.

Iram Habib has become the second woman pilot after Tanvi Raina, a Kashmiri Pandit, who joined Air India as the first female pilot from the occupied Jammu and Kashmir valley in 2016.

Iram Habib will be joining a private airline as a commercial pilot from this month.


According to media reports, father of Iram Habib is a supplier of surgical instruments.

Becoming a commercial pilot was Iram Habib’s childhood dream. She gave up a short-term goal of getting a doctorate degree in forestry to become a pilot.

The 30-year-old Iram Habib is currently taking classes in Delhi to get a commercial pilot license.

Iram Habib completed her basic training from Miami in the US in 2016.

She said, “Everyone was surprised to find that I am a Kashmiri Muslim doing flying but I went ahead to achieve my goal.”
