Former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad Hospitalized After Hip Fracture

The former statesman and former Prime Minister of Malaysia, veteran, Mahathir Mohamad, is admitted to hospital after he fell and fractured his right hip in his house on Tuesday; his aide told reporters.

His staff confirmed that the 100-year-old ruler had collapsed in his home at about 7:30 a.m. local time. The doctors diagnosed a fracture on his right hip after a medical examination.

At around 9.30 a.m. Mahathir was taken to the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur, where he is likely to spend the next few weeks under treatment and observation.
