Prince of Wales, Charles Will Walk Meghan Markle Down Aisle at Royal Wedding

Meghan Markle has requested Prince of Wales Charles to walk her down the aisle at her wedding ceremony to Prince Harry on Saturday. Meghan Markle’s father will not attend the wedding due to illness.

According to a statement released by Kensington Palace, “Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”

Mother of Meghan Markle Doria Ragland, who is also a social worker and yoga instructor, had been tipped to walk her down the aisle since the news of her father’s absence from the wedding has been confirmed on Thursday.

Meghan Markle expressed sorrow on the news of her father’s absence from the wedding. In a statement on Thursday she remarked, “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”

The news about absence of father of the bride on the wedding has been circulating on media from quiet sometime.  Series of U-turns were reported over the intention of Thomas Markle to attend the event.

He was originally reported to have pulled out of the ceremony after a paparazzi scandal, where he allegedly posed for a set of staged photos sold for a reported $135,000 — in a breach of royal etiquette ahead of the meticulously planned big day.

Sources also reveal that he felt embarrassed to attend the occasion in the fallout from the revelations.
