Governments imposed work-from-home restrictions, shut down key attractions, travel bans and flights were delayed and cancelled. Authorities confirmed heavy rain across several areas of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The National Centre of Meteorology issued an orange alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and possible hail. Officials warned residents to stay cautious and limit movement.
Remote Work Ordered as Dubai Rain Continues
Dubai authorities announced work-from-home for public sector employees. Private companies also received guidance to adopt remote work. Only essential staff reported to offices.
Several landmarks shut down operations. Global Village and Ain Dubai closed temporarily. Skydive Dubai suspended all activities. Police asked residents to avoid unnecessary travel due to water accumulation on roads.
Dubai Airport Faces Flight Delays and Cancellations
Dubai International Airport adjusted operations due to the UAE weather. Airport management advised passengers to arrive four hours before departure. Travelers shared long waits and slow movement inside terminals.
Khaleej Times reports confirmed seven flight cancellations and delays affecting at least 15 flights. Airlines warned passengers to check schedules before leaving for the airport.
Safety Alerts Issued Across the UAE
Dubai Police urged drivers to remain alert and avoid flooded areas. Emergency teams stayed active across the city. Authorities also closed some outdoor parks and beaches as a precaution.
Weather officials said unstable conditions would continue through Friday. Forecasts suggest gradual improvement from tonight. Light rain may continue in parts of the UAE.
