In a significant stride towards technological advancement, Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, unveiled the province’s inaugural Free IT City at APS School, Model Town. This initiative, a collaboration with the JDC Foundation, aims to equip Punjab’s youth with cutting-edge IT skills.
JDC Free IT City Lahore Courses
The Free IT City will offer a range of modern IT courses, including Amazon, Graphics, CorelDRAW, and Walmart, completely free of charge. These courses, spanning two to three months, will culminate in merit-based certificates, marking a new era in Punjab’s educational landscape.
This initiative aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aiming to empower Punjab’s students and youth with essential IT skills. The Free IT City at APS School marks the beginning of a network of IT Cities set to sprout across Punjab.
Rana Sikandar Hayat underscored the importance of IT proficiency in the current era, stating that nations’ progress is contingent on their mastery of IT and technical skills. He emphasized that these skills would foster self-reliance among Punjab’s youth.
The minister highlighted that the previously costly IT courses would now be accessible to all, breaking down financial barriers in education. He envisioned the Free IT City as a trailblazing institution with set annual admission targets, committed to equipping Punjab’s youth with modern skills to combat challenges like unemployment.
Expressing gratitude to the JDC Foundation for their support in establishing the IT City, Rana Sikandar Hayat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to this initiative. The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of notable figures, including Provincial Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir and JDC General Secretary Zafar Abbas, among others.
