Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has unveiled plans to introduce tram services in key areas of Lahore, including Liberty, Main Market, Mini Market, and Hali Road. This move aims to enhance the city’s public transportation system and ease traffic congestion in these bustling neighborhoods.
The announcement came during a meeting at the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Headquarters, where Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also requested a comprehensive list of illegal housing schemes. She emphasized the importance of reviewing these schemes to determine whether they could be regularized. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure better urban planning and management in Lahore.
The meeting was marked by a significant decision to establish the Punjab Development Authority, which will oversee various development projects across the province. This new authority is expected to streamline and accelerate development efforts, ensuring a more organized approach to urban expansion and infrastructure improvement.
In addition to the introduction of tram services, plans were approved for the remodeling and beautification of MM Alam Road, a popular commercial hub in Lahore.
