The Sindh Police ordered strict action against officers addicted to gutka and mawa. A list of such officers is being prepared, and personnel have been given a 10-day deadline to quit the use of gutka or mawa. Those who fail to comply will face departmental action.

Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has instructed all districts across Sindh to submit detailed reports on police officers involved in gutka and mawa use. He warned that officers showing non-serious behavior could face termination.

Progress reports must be submitted to DIGP Establishment every 15 days. The IG also initiated a rehabilitation program for addicted officers.

According to internal sources, more than 50% of Sindh Police personnel consume gutka or mawa. Reports further suggest that some narcotics are being sold under police patronage in certain shops.
