NADRA has introduced a digital biometric vehicle verification service to eliminate car transfer frauds and simplify used car buying in Pakistan.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) launched a new service for vehicle buyers and sellers. It is an online biometric verification system. It is designed to streamline ownership transfers across the country. It also protects citizens from fraudulent car sales and fake documentation.
Previously car buyers faced long queues at provincial excise offices for physical verification. With this new digital service buyers and sellers can complete identity verification through the PakID mobile app or local e-Sahulat centers.
How the Digital Verification System Works
- Buyers and sellers scan their fingerprints or faces using the PakID app.
- The system matches the biometric data directly with the central NADRA identity database.
- The digital record links directly to provincial excise and taxation departments.
- Once verified the ownership transfer proceeds without mandatory physical office visits.
Key Benefits for Vehicle Owners
The new digital system resolves long standing issues in Pakistan’s second hand auto market. Many buyers previously faced delays due to missing sellers or fake registration documents.
- Verification prevents fake identity transfers and stolen vehicle sales.
- Non resident citizens or overseas Pakistanis can verify transactions remotely through the PakID app.
- Biometric checks clear within seconds on the digital platform
