KIA Picanto Booking in Pakistan Suspended

KIA Picanto booking in Pakistan suspended due to a shortage of semiconductor chips. The semiconductor chip manufacturing business took a toll since Covid-19 hit the World. It is also an essential component in Mobile phones and laptops. Lockdowns and work from home scenarios increase the demand for such gadgets, and chip manufacturers divert their focus to them. So the car manufacturers are facing an issue of supply shortage.

The chips shortage and supply-chain hurdles hits hard the auto production globally. Now the effects are reaching Pakistan as yesterday Suzuki Alto and Cultus Booking in Pakistan suspended. Now KIA Lucky motors put halt to the booking of KIA Picanto Automatic variant. Many auto manufacturers are already behind their schedule in production and deliveries. Some of the chip manufacturers also cease their operations due to Coronavirus lockdowns, resulting in a dip in production.

Auto Companies in Pakistan are already taking so long for delivering the vehicles. They are booking vehicles on 3 to 6 months delivery time. MG, KIA, Hyundai, Suzuki, Proton, Faw, Changan, and all other manufacturers are facing chip shortages. However, Suzuki and KIA are only two brands that suspend bookings of their select vehicles for an unannounced period. Industry insiders say that more companies will struggle with the issue in the coming months.
