Punjab E-Bike Scheme Phase 2: 100,000 Students to Get Bikes Through Balloting

More than 1.3 million students registered for Punjab’s Phase 2 e-bike scheme, while over 607,000 completed applications were received. The government will select 100,000 students through balloting, with distribution expected early next month.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the scheme on September 10, 2026. The application process closed on October 4. The government announced the figures on October 12 and confirmed that successful applicants would receive electric bikes through a ballot.

The figures mean that around 16.5% of completed applicants could receive a bike, or roughly one in six. Compared with the more than 1.3 million registrations, the allocation represents about one bike for every 13 registrants.

Monthly Instalments and Eligibility

The government has set monthly instalments at around Rs. 3,000. It will cover the interest cost. The scheme also provides free driving training for successful female applicants.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and hold a Punjab domicile or CNIC.
  • They must be regular students at a public or private degree college or university recognized by the Higher Education Commission.
  • Applicants must also hold a motorcycle learner’s permit or driving license.

Only one student per family can receive a bike under the scheme.

When Will Bike Distribution Begin?

Maryam Nawaz said on October 27 that the government would distribute electric bikes among students early next month. The initial launch announcement had directed officials to provide bikes within six weeks after the application process ended.

However, a district-wise distribution schedule and a confirmed balloting date have not appeared in the official announcements cited here. Applicants can check updates through the government’s official portal at bikes.punjab.gov.pk.

The government has announced 100,000 bikes for this phase. Applicants should rely on official updates for selection results and distribution details.
