Toyota Pakistan, also known as Indus Motor Company (IMC), has signed an agreement with Toyota Egypt to export high-quality car parts to the latter. This marks a historic milestone for IMC, as it becomes the first auto manufacturer in Pakistan to join the global supply chain of Toyota.
The agreement was announced in an official press statement by IMC, which stated that it will start exporting semi-processed raw materials to Toyota Egypt from July 2023. The statement added that this is in line with the Auto Development and Export Policy (AIDEP) 2021–2026, which aims to promote the export potential of Pakistan’s auto sector.
IMC is not the only company in Pakistan that exports car parts to Toyota. AuVitronics Limited, a House of Habib company, has been exporting car parts to Toyota Motors Vietnam (TMV) since 2020. However, IMC is the first company to export car parts to another Toyota subsidiary outside Asia.
The agreement was celebrated at a ceremony held at IMC’s plant in Port Qasim, where Chief Executive Ali Asghar Jamali expressed his pride and satisfaction. He said that this agreement reflects the “Make in Pakistan” vision and shows the trust and confidence that Toyota has in IMC’s products and capabilities.
He also said that this agreement is just the beginning and that IMC plans to further enhance its export capacity and quality standards, positioning Pakistan’s auto industry as a reliable and competitive player in the global market. Further, he thanked Toyota Egypt for their collaboration and support and hoped that this partnership will strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Egypt.
