Diesel Price Drops by Rs 32 as Government Adjusts Fuel Rates

The government has slashed the diesel fuel price by Rs 32.63 per liter following urgent talks in Karachi. The petrol price in Pakistan saw a small increase of Rs. 2.97 per liter.

In a major move to lower transport costs, the federal government issued updated fuel price in Pakistan figures. The price of diesel fuel dropped significantly from Rs 395.69 to Rs 363.06 per liter. At the same time, the new petrol price in Pakistan stands at Rs 337.51 per liter, up slightly from Rs 334.54.

PM Orders Talks with Oil Refineries

The steep drop in diesel costs came after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to travel immediately to Karachi. The Prime Minister ordered direct negotiations with local oil refineries to reduce the overall petrol price burden and deliver fast relief on local diesel rates.

The directive followed an earlier price adjustment that had raised fuel costs due to ongoing global market shifts linked to the Middle East conflict.

Updated Fuel Breakdown

High-Speed Diesel Rs 363.06 per literDown by Rs 32.63
Petrol (Super MS-92) Rs 337.51 per literUp by Rs 2.97

Dealers Agree on Margins to Avoid Strike

Alongside changing petrol prices in Pakistan, the government also settled a dispute with petrol pump owners. The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers’ Association (PPDA) had threatened a 72-hour nationwide strike over profit margins. To resolve the issue, the government approved a 15.5 percent increase in dealer margins starting September 1, raising their earnings by Rs 1.34 per liter to Rs 9.98 per liter.

The government continues to run its daily pricing system through the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), adjusting rates based on a rolling seven-day international average.
