Gold Prices Dropped in Local and Global Markets After Two-Day Pause

Gold prices dropped sharply across local and international markets on Wednesday, ending a two-day stability period with a 3,700-rupee fall per tola.

The price of 24-karat gold recorded a drop of Rs 3,700 per tola on Wednesday, settling at Rs 458,236 according to updates from the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association.

The downward trend hit all weight categories in the local market. The cost of 10 grams of 24-karat gold fell by Rs 3,172 to reach Rs 392,863. Meanwhile, silver rates in the domestic market also went down, dropping by Rs 186 per tola to settle at Rs 6,800.

The local price drop reflects a broader decline in global bullion markets. International spot gold prices declined by $37 per ounce during the trading session bringing the global rate down to $4,358 per ounce.

Traders cite shifting global economic indicators and foreign exchange movements as key drivers behind the sudden pull-back after two days of steady trading.
