Government Raises Petroleum Prices Again Amid Nationwide Strikes

The federal government has hiked petroleum prices for the second consecutive day, pushing petrol to Rs 349 per liter despite ongoing nationwide strikes against inflation and levies.

According to the notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), fuel rates climbed further across the country:

• Petrol price increased by Rs 2.84 per liter, setting the new rate at Rs 349 per liter.
• High-speed diesel rose by Rs 2.28 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs 374.31 per liter.

Recent Price Trends

This latest adjustment follows consecutive daily price revisions. Just a day prior, petrol costs went up by Rs 2.29 to reach Rs 346.16 per liter, while high-speed diesel increased by Rs 1.11 to settle at Rs 372.03 per liter

The continuous upward revision comes at the same time as the widespread public demonstrations and business closures organized by Jamaat-e-Islami against the petroleum levy and soaring inflation.
