Strike In Karachi: In a move that is expected to have a significant impact on the business community in Karachi, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce has declared a complete strike scheduled for tomorrow.
During a recent meeting with traders, Zubeir Motiwala, a prominent figure at the Chamber of Commerce, made a public announcement stating that the Chamber stands in solidarity with traders, and as a result, Karachi will come to a standstill on Friday.
Motiwala raised concerns about the exorbitant electricity tariffs, emphasizing that they are simply unsustainable for businesses, whether they are small or large enterprises. The high electricity costs have made it extremely challenging for businesses to operate efficiently.
He pointed out that the burden of excessive electricity bills is taking a toll on every sector of the business community. He urged the government to engage in meaningful discussions with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to address this issue.
Motiwala stressed the immediate need for a thorough review of power project rates to alleviate the financial strain on businesses.
This strike announcement underscores the urgency of addressing the electricity tariff issue and highlights the determination of Karachi’s business community to seek fair and practical solutions for sustainable business operations.
