KSA and UAE to invest billions in Pakistan’s IT, agriculture, and mining sectors

Pakistan is expecting to attract heavy investment from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its information technology, agriculture, and mining sectors, according to Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik. He said the KSA and the UAE had allocated $24 billion and $22 billion respectively for exploring opportunities in these three sectors of Pakistan.

The minister revealed this information on Sunday in an interview with a private television channel, where he also talked about other issues related to the economy, energy, politics, and elections. Malik said that the investment from the Gulf region would open many job opportunities for young people, who had knowledge of advanced technology and skills. He said the government had recently constituted committees for one-window operations to facilitate the investors.

Further, he told the media that the government had also provided maximum relief to employees, pensioners, and people working in the private sector, despite economic challenges. He said a nine-month relief agreement had been made with the International Monetary Fund to run the economic affairs in a proper manner.

The department in question, he claimed, had received instructions from the government to assure energy supply during meal preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He stated that a discussion had taken place with Azerbaijan regarding the provision of LNG cargo to Pakistan before next winter.

Malik said that Pakistan was looking forward to receiving heavy investment from the KSA and the UAE in its information technology, agriculture, and mining sectors. He said these sectors had great potential for growth and development. And Pakistan had a strong relationship with both countries and hoped that their investment would boost business activities and create jobs in Pakistan.
