The federal government has appointed Mustafa Ramday as chairman of Pakistan State Oil’s (PSO) Board of Management. He will also serve as an independent director. His term runs for three years, with immediate effect, according to a statement issued on Friday.
Ramday has more than 28 years of experience in constitutional, commercial, and energy-sector law. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a former Advocate General of Punjab.
He has worked on the legal side of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), along with power generation and clean energy projects. He has also represented oil, gas, and power-sector companies in international arbitration cases. Chambers & Partners places him in its top tier for dispute resolution and litigation in Pakistan.
After taking charge, Ramday said he would serve PSO without pay. He will not claim fees, travel costs, or any other expenses tied to his role.
“I would like to make it clear, to the company and to everyone else, that I will not charge PSO any directors’ fees, travel, boarding, lodging or other costs to which I would be entitled for any PSO work, whether within or outside Pakistan,” he said.
