Pakistan Petrol Price Rises to Rs375.82, Diesel Crosses Rs400

Petrol rises by Rs5.02 and high-speed diesel by Rs5.28 per liter under Pakistan’s daily fuel pricing system. The new rates will remain effective till September 14.

The federal government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices for the fifth consecutive day, pushing diesel above Rs400 per liter.

According to the Petroleum Division’s notification, petrol will cost Rs375.82 per liter. HSD will cost Rs403.32 per liter. The previous rates were Rs370.80 and Rs398.04, respectively.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued the revised prices under the government’s new daily pricing mechanism.

Petrol has increased by Rs29.95 per liter over the five-day period. HSD has increased by Rs25.27 during the same period. These rates were revised on September 12.

Why Fuel Prices Are Rising

The increases come as international oil markets remain affected by supply disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude was above $100 per barrel during the week.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced in July that OGRA would determine fuel prices daily. The system uses the average Platts price over seven working days. Malik said the mechanism would allow international price changes to pass through to domestic fuel prices without requiring government intervention.

The Petroleum Pricing Committee said on September 3 that it was reviewing measures to make fuel pricing more transparent while protecting consumers from excessive price volatility.
