Pakistan’s Economy Set to Grow by $60 Billion through Digitalization in 7-8 Years

As per, (OICCI) Overseas Investor Chamber of Commerce and Industry Digital’s report 2022, $60 billion can add to Pakistan’s economy within the next 7 to 8 years. Digitalization provides various employment opportunities to 23% of Pakistanis between the ages of 20 and 34.

OICCI managing report committee presented the Digital Report 2022 titled “Recommendations for Digital Transformation in Pakistan”. The report presented to the president of Pakistan intend to set the country on its digital journey. The report covers suggestions on e-commerce, Fintech, IT exports, Web 3.0 technologies, etc.

OICCI Report offers key recommendations to policymakers on the various angles of digital transformation of the economy. For innovation in Pakistan, the report recommends digital infrastructure and connectivity, mass digital usage, emerging web 3.0 technologies, and digital regulations. As per research report, a 10 percent increase in broadband enters results in increasing 1.4 percent of GDP.

In Pakistan, around 23 million children are out of school and we have less than 1 doctor for 1000 people.

In a recent report, it is recorded that there is an increase in the number of digital financial services. Pakistan is still a country in which traders don’t accept digitalized transactions. Government should digitalize the mode of payment, and urge international e-commerce companies to set up regional offices in Pakistan.

Indonesia’s e-commerce market size is $30 billion and expects to reach $54 billion by 2025. Digitalization supports 26 million jobs directly and indirectly.

Digitalization can bring a lot of efficiency to government services, boost production and help improve the ease of doing business.

Philippines public service uses digitalized methods to pay service charges under the E-government master plan. It helped the country rank 95th position in the EODB 2020 rating. The government should take advantage of modern technologies such as learning machine language, Data analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. This will Improve Competence in public departments, Documents, and the Economy and increase tax revenues.
