In a major relief for the public on the third day of Eid, the government has announced a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices across Pakistan after a sharp decline in international oil prices.
According to the latest notification, both petrol and diesel prices have been reduced by Rs22 per litre, providing much-needed relief to consumers already struggling with rising inflation and transportation costs.
Following the price cut, the new price of diesel has been fixed at Rs380.78 per litre, while petrol will now be available at Rs381.78 per litre.
Officials said the revised fuel prices will come into effect from midnight tonight and will remain applicable for the next seven days.
The reduction comes amid falling crude oil prices in the global market, which has allowed the government to pass some relief on to the public. Analysts believe the decrease in fuel prices could also help lower transportation fares and reduce the cost of essential commodities in local markets.
Citizens have welcomed the decision, especially during the Eid holidays, as many families are traveling across the country and fuel expenses directly impact travel budgets.
Economic experts say further reductions in petroleum prices may be possible if international oil prices continue to decline in the coming weeks.
