Petrol Price Rises by Rs4.10, Diesel Up Rs6.41 in Pakistan

The government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices as global oil market conditions continue to push up fuel costs. The new rates take effect from September 16.

The Petroleum Division announced the new prices on Tuesday. Petrol will now cost Rs384.34 per liter. High-speed diesel (HSD) will cost Rs415.83 per liter.

Petrol has become Rs4.10 more expensive. The price of HSD has increased by Rs6.41 per liter.

Global Oil Prices Push Fuel Costs Higher

The Petroleum Division linked the latest adjustment to changes in international oil prices. The notification cited changes in Platts rates, premiums and other related costs.

International oil markets have faced supply concerns due to disruptions in the Middle East. Buyers have also been looking for alternative supplies as regional tensions affect oil shipments.

The latest increase comes as the government tries to limit the impact of higher fuel costs on consumers. The Economic Coordination Committee recently approved a Rs 75 billion fuel subsidy scheme.

The government has also introduced targeted petrol relief for motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and vehicles with engines of up to 800cc.

The new petroleum prices will remain applicable from September 16 under the latest notification.
