Under the leadership of SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, the regulator has set a clear target to expand the country’s investor base to 2.5 million, placing a high priority on youth participation and financial inclusion.
Key Features of the New Digital Framework
| Rapid Account Opening | Stock market accounts can now be opened within one day. Decisions on investor account applications will be finalized within two days. |
| 24/7 Processing | The new framework enables round-the-clock digital onboarding and processing capabilities. |
| Application Tracking | Investors can seamlessly track the live status of their applications using a unique tracking ID |
| Accountability for Brokers | Brokers are now legally required to provide formal written reasons for rejecting any account opening application. |
| Exemption from Re-Verification | Previously verified investors are fully exempt from undergoing additional re-verification procedures. |
