In a recent statement, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, the Senior Vice President of the Awami National Party (ANP), expressed deep concerns regarding the upcoming Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) scheduled for September 10, 2023. Hoti described this decision as a ‘disservice to the students’ and highlighted the urgency of the matter.
Hoti pointed out that, in the previous year, the MDCAT tests were conducted during the months of October and November, allowing students more time to prepare adequately. However, this year, the authorities have decided to advance the examination date, causing significant distress among aspiring medical and dental students.
Furthermore, Hoti emphasized the unfavorable timing of the MDCAT tests in relation to the practical exams for the FSC (Intermediate of Science) program. The last practical exam for FSC took place on August 28, 2023, and the sudden scheduling of the medical entry tests on September 10, 2023, has put the futures of more than 200,000 students nationwide at risk.
Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Hoti, expressed unwavering support for the affected students and strongly advocated for the postponement of the MDCAT tests. He urged Prime Minister Anwarulhaq Kakar to take immediate notice of the situation and take necessary steps to safeguard the educational prospects and well-being of these students.
This move by Ameer Haider Khan Hoti underscores the growing concerns within the educational community and the urgent need to reconsider the timing of the 2023 MDCAT test, ensuring a fair and supportive environment for all aspiring medical and dental professionals in Pakistan.
