Investigation Unveils Irregularities in Karachi Matric Board’s 2023 Results; Calls for Urgent Reforms
An inquiry into the 2023 results of the Karachi Matric Board’s tenth-grade examinations has exposed widespread irregularities, prompting urgent calls for reforms. The inquiry, headed by Secretary School Education Dr. Shireen Mustafa, submitted its report to the Sindh Education Minister, Justice (Retd.) Makhdoom Mqbool Baqar, in Hyderabad.
The inquiry committee identified significant negligence during the examination process, particularly within the examination team, including the Controller, Deputy Controller, Assistant Controller, and IT team.
Committee recommended further investigations into corruption allegations, specifically related to irregularities within the Matric Board. Anti-corruption establishments are urged to take swift action against all culpable officers.
IT/Computer wing of the Matric Board administration was found wanting, with the failure to implement a new result software effectively. The committee emphasized the importance of external services for better technological support.
Committee expressed concern about the lack of transparency in the result announcement process. The failure to provide the committee with original records for comparison raised questions about the accuracy of the results.
