The University of Karachi (UoK) has joyfully reopened its doors to eager students, thanks to a decisive move by the Higher Education Council (HEC).
Following persistent demands and negotiations led by the University of Karachi Professors’ Association, the HEC has released the much-awaited ‘pending funds.’ These funds, allocated for the second quarter of the year 2023-2024, amount to a substantial Rs 14.39 billion, aimed at supporting universities across the province.
In a significant boost to the University of Karachi, the HEC has allocated a generous sum of Rs 430 million. This welcome financial infusion prompted the Professors’ Association to announce the resumption of the teaching process.
Notably, the HEC has also extended its financial support to other prominent universities in Sindh. Sindh University has received a grant of Rs 430 million, while Dawood University and Jinnah Sindh Medical University have been granted Rs 270 million and Rs 190 million, respectively. Additionally, NED University has received a commendable grant of Rs 280 million.
This development is set to rejuvenate the academic landscape in Sindh and ensure that students can continue their education without further interruptions. The universities, armed with these funds, are now better equipped to provide quality education to their students, fulfilling their mission of nurturing future leaders.
