PM Shehbaz Announces Pakistan’s First Youth Employment Policy

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the country’s first Youth Employment Policy, saying that connecting young people with modern education and employment opportunities is an urgent need. 

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister said that a substantial amount has been allocated for youth development in the current fiscal year. He said that failing to provide children with equal educational opportunities would not be consistent with Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of Pakistan.

The prime minister highlighted the class divide in the education sector and said that children from poor and remote areas of society should also have access to quality education. Referring to the Daanish Schools project, he said its scope is being expanded to other provinces as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Special Quota for Women and Startups

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that under the new policy, a 35 percent quota will be allocated for women in the overall labor force. In addition, a 10 percent annual quota for startups has also been announced, providing young people with more opportunities to participate in entrepreneurial activities.

He said that a Daanish University is also being established in Islamabad, with classes expected to begin next year. According to the prime minister, the university will provide modern education and offer admission opportunities to financially disadvantaged students who achieve good grades.
