PMDC Revises MDCAT 2026 Date to September 20, Students Get Extra Preparation Time

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially revised the MDCAT 2026 schedule, announcing that the medical entrance examination will now be held on September 20, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled August 16, 2026.

The move came in response to instructions issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had asked for a five-week extension for aspiring medical and dental students to prepare themselves for the one of Pakistan’s most competitive entrance tests.

PMDC Announces New MDCAT 2026 Exam Date

As per the newest PMDC announcement, the MDCAT 2026 exam date has been moved to September 20, 2026. This updated timetable is for all candidates applying to medical and dental colleges in public and private institutions all over Pakistan.

PMDC clarified that only the examination date has changed. All the rules, eligibility, registration, admission and examination procedures as announced earlier will be in effect till the council issues another official notification.

No Changes to MDCAT 2026 Registration or Eligibility

The council has promised students that they will not have to go through any re-registration due to the change in the examination schedule.

Candidates who have already been registered according to the old guidelines will be eligible as per the guidelines. The PMDC gave students the suggestion to continue preparing on the basis of the existing syllabus and the examination policy.

Extra Preparation Time for MDCAT 2026 Students

Since the exam is postponed for more than a month, students now have an extra time to build their preparation for MDCAT 2026.

Education experts recommend using this extended period to:

• Revise high-weightage topics
• Solve past papers and mock tests
• Improve time management skills
• Practice multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
• Focus on weaker subjects before the examination

Thousands of students across Pakistan appear in MDCAT every year to compete for limited seats in government and private medical and dental colleges.

PMDC Issues Reminder for Students Planning to Study Abroad

PMDC also warned students intending to study medicine or dental science in foreign countries that they need to meet the requirements of the council.

Students intending to apply to overseas medical and/or dental schools should:

• Obtain at least 50% marks in MDCAT 2026, or
• Qualify through an approved equivalent foreign medical admission examination.

The council cautioned that failure to fulfil these conditions could create hurdles for students on their way to getting recognition of their medical qualification and registration to practice in Pakistan after graduating from abroad.

Students Advised to Follow Official PMDC Updates

PMDC has recommended that all aspirants check their newsletters for any updates on the MDCAT 2026 in the future. The exam date has been changed so far and the rest of the admission process is unchanged.

The revised schedule has been framed so that the examination process could be smooth and transparent for all candidates across the country, the council added.
