Punjab Approves Over Rs 60 Million in Scholarships for Gilgit-Baltistan Students

The Punjab government has approved scholarships worth over Rs 60 million for nearly 500 students from Gilgit-Baltistan under the Chief Minister’s Honhaar Scholarship Scheme.

The Punjab government approved a major educational grant for students from Gilgit-Baltistan. Over Rs 60 million will go to nearly 500 deserving students under the Chief Minister’s Honhaar Scholarship Scheme.

Students across seven educational institutions in Gilgit-Baltistan will receive these funds. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will formally award the scholarships on Tuesday.

Nationwide Access to Educational Grants

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat called the initiative a special gift to Gilgit-Baltistan. He explained the overall structure of the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship program reserves specific seats for students from every province. This quota system extends financial support far beyond the borders of Punjab.

Upcoming Support for Azad Jammu and Kashmir

The provincial government plans to expand the initiative even further. Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the government will introduce dedicated scholarships for Azad Kashmir students in the coming days.
