SDS Program Now Accepts Overall IELTS 6.0 Bands for Pakistani Students

Easier Path for Pakistani Students to Study in Canada

Good news for students in Pakistan dreaming of studying in Canada! Things are getting simpler thanks to some changes. Before, if you wanted to apply for a study permit through the Student Direct Stream (SDS), you had to get a certain score in different English skills like Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening. But guess what? Now you just need an overall English language score.

Starting from August 10, 2023, if you took the IELTS Academic test in the last two years and didn’t do too well in each skill (at least 6.0), don’t worry. You can still apply for the SDS program if you got an overall score of 6.0. That’s pretty cool because it gives you a fair chance even if you didn’t do great in one specific skill.

The head of IDP Pakistan, Mr. Humayun Bin Akram, thinks this is a big deal. He believes that this change will make students in Pakistan feel more confident. It means that the things they’re good at will count more in their overall English score. He also said that lots of students all over the world really like Canada as a place to study. So, these changes will make it possible for more students in Pakistan to go after their Canadian study dreams.

IDP Pakistan is the place where students usually take the IELTS test. They’re already in many big cities like Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Gujrat, and Faisalabad. And they’re planning to go to even more places soon, so they can help more students.

Remember, these changes are for people who want to apply starting from August 10, 2023.
