The Sindh Education and Literacy Department officially approved a pivotal curriculum update. Government schools across the province will now offer dedicated religious textbooks for Hindu students. This change directly replaces the standard “Ethics” subject for Grade 3, Grade 4, and Grade 5.
The Executive Committee of the Sindh Curriculum Council finalized this decision during their recent session. They aim to provide students with a learning experience that reflects their own cultural and religious identity.
Funding and Publication Timeline
The Sindh Textbook Board (STBB) faces temporary budget constraints for this specific project. Consequently, Prem Sagar Sanstha Karachi will handle the initial printing. This private-public partnership ensures the books reach students for the upcoming academic session without delay.
By the 2026-27 academic year, the government plans to incorporate these costs into the official provincial budget. This ensures long-term sustainability for minority education resources in Sindh.
This policy addresses those needs. It moves beyond generic moral science to specific, faith-based learning. Educators believe this will foster higher engagement and a sense of belonging among minority communities.
