The Sindh government has announced a major change to the weekly schedule of educational institutions, confirming that all public and private schools and colleges across the province will reopen on August 1, 2026, with a six-day working week after abolishing the Saturday holiday.
An official notification issued by the Sindh Education Department revealed that teaching activities and regular classes will resume on Saturdays and educational institutions will now be open from Monday to Saturday.
The decision will be effective from August 1, 2026, on the beginning of the new academic session 2026-27. Schools and colleges have told to strictly adhere to the revised timetable and ensure classes held regularly over the six-day period.
The change follows the government and private educational institutions’ provincial summer vacations that ran from June 1 to July 31, 2026.
The revised schedule has devised with a view to ensuring smooth academic activities at the beginning of the new session, education officials said. School and college authorities have told they must adhere to the plan ASAP.
The announcement now implies that students, teachers and parents need to get ready for regular classes in the morning of Saturdays now as the weekly holiday withdrawn from all over Sindh.
Why Are Sindh Schools Reopening on August 1?
The opening falls in the middle of a new academic year—2026-27. Schools will start the new academic year on August 1 with the revised six-day timetable, as vacations come to an end on July 31.
Sindh Schools New Working Days
Under the revised timetable:
- Schools and colleges will remain open Monday to Saturday
- Saturday holiday has been abolished
- The new schedule applies to both public and private educational institutions
- The policy comes into effect from August 1, 2026
The Sindh Education Department has advised all institutions to ensure full implementation of the new schedule and continue academic activities according to the official notification.
