The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has officially issued the schedule for summer vacations 2026 across all public and private educational institutions in the province. The notification includes separate holiday timings for summer zone and winter zone schools in line with regional weather conditions.
The decision has been made to provide the safety and well-being of students in different parts of the province during the severe summer heat, the department said.
Summer Zone Schools Vacation Schedule
Summer vacation schedule is finalized in summer zone districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which comprise the important plain districts of Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan as follows:
- Primary schools: June 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026
- Middle, high, and higher secondary schools: June 15, 2026 to August 16, 2026
The longer holiday period for primary schools acknowledges the increased risk to younger children from extreme weather events.
Winter Zone Schools Vacation Schedule
The Education Department has declared a shorter summer vacation period for the areas in the winter zone such as Swat, Chitral, Dir and other northern districts.
- All schools: July 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026
Comparative mild temperatures in these areas enable a lower closure duration.
Summer Camps During Vacation Period
The Education Department has also confirmed that educational summer camps will be held at the schools in the summer zone during the vacation period.
The timings for these camps will be as follows:
- Primary and middle schools: 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- High and higher secondary schools: 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM
These camps will focus on academic reinforcement and skill development activities to support students during the break.
Districts Included in Each Zone
The major plain districts of Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Dera Ismail Khan and other adjoining areas are included in the summer zone.
The upper and mountainous districts of Swat, Chitral, Dir and its adjoining areas are considered as the winter zone.
Official Importance of the Notification
The schedule has been provided by the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa based upon the seasonal and regional changes in the climate. Authorities have asked parents and schools to adhere to the official timetable.
