UHS Lahore Reduced Answer Book Pages for MBBS/BDS Professional Exams 2023

In a bid to optimize examination procedures and minimize expenses, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has implemented a significant reduction in the length of answer books for the upcoming 2023 professional examinations.

As part of a comprehensive overhaul of examination practices, the UHS has taken the initiative to halve the number of pages allocated to answer books. This strategic decision is geared towards prompting candidates to provide more concise and focused responses to short essay questions (SEQs), aligning seamlessly with the university’s dedication to operational efficiency.

Previously, answer books for SEQ papers consisted of 16 pages, despite candidates being required to answer only three questions. A thorough analysis uncovered that candidates typically utilized only 5 to 6 pages, resulting in unnecessary paper wastage. In response to this, the UHS Committee for Conduct of Examinations (CCE) convened a meeting and resolved to reduce the number of pages in the answer book.

Addressing the head examiners and examiners of MBBS and BDS professional examinations on Wednesday, UHS Vice Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore underscored the potential for substantial annual savings, estimating around Rs20 million.

The primary objective behind this decision, however, is to motivate students to incorporate essential key points, words, ideas, and phrases sought by examiners. This move aims to foster a more targeted and efficient examination process, enhancing the overall quality and relevance of student responses.

Beyond its fiscal responsibility alignment, this cost-effective measure reflects the university’s proactive stance in elevating the standards of professional examinations. By encouraging a more streamlined and focused approach in answering SEQs, the UHS aims to bring about not only financial savings but also an improvement in the overall examination experience for students.
