The much-anticipated third installment of the Bollywood ‘Aashiqui’ series, ‘Aashiqui 3’, has hit a roadblock. T-Series, the production house, has clarified that they are not part of the project.
The ‘Aashiqui’ series began its journey in 1990, featuring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal in the lead roles. The sequel, ‘Aashiqui 2’, graced the silver screen in 2013, starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
Kartik Aaryan had previously stirred excitement among fans by announcing the production of the third film on Instagram, with Anurag Basu at the helm. His post read, “Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum/ Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum #Aashiqui3. This one is going to be heart-wrenching!! My First with Basu Da (Anurag Basu).”
Rumors were rife about the involvement of A-listers Tripti Dimri, Varun Dhawan, Fatima Sana Sheikh, and Jennifer Winget in the project.
However, T-Series has released a statement denying any association with the project. The statement read, “If and when ‘Aashiqui 3’ initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films/Mukesh Bhatt, being joint owners in the franchise, shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumors suggesting that Aashiqui 3 being produced under a different title by T-Series. Our proposed film to directed by Anurag Basu is neither ‘Aashiqui 3’ nor part of the ‘Aashiqui’ franchise.”
Earlier, Kartik Aaryan expressed his excitement about working on the film, stating it a dream come true. He said, “The timeless classic ‘Aashiqui’ is something I grew up watching and working on ‘Aashiqui 3’ is like a dream come true. I feel privileged yet grateful collaborating with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I’ve been a big fan of Anurag Basu’s work and collaborating with him on this one will shape me in many ways.”
