A notification from the Cabinet Division has approved two holidays for Ashura (9 and 10) 2022. The approval was made on Wednesday by the federal government. The holidays are expected to be on 9th and 10th August as Muslims will follow the occasion with mourning and grief. The month of Muharram is the first Islamic month of the Islamic calendar, 1444 AH. Muharram of 2022 fell on 31st July, said to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
The processions will be expected in the holy month of Muharram. As per the National Command and Operation Centre, children and elders are restricted to avoid gatherings at Majlis on Ashura amid the covid-19.
While attending majlis few guidelines are to be followed amid Covid-19 :
- Wearing masks and maintaining social distancing is necessary
- SOPs should be keenly observed
- All participants must be vaccinated
