Muharram moon not sighted, Ashura to be on August 9, 2022

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Friday was unable to sight the Muharram moon. Muharram which is the start of the new Islamic year, 1444 AH. Youm-e-Ashura will be observed on August 9 and Muharram will begin on Sunday (tomorrow). The meeting was presided by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Moulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, and was held at the Quetta Deputy Commissioner’s office.

As per the meeting held by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the federal government, through Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony announces that the moon of Muharram has not been sighted. Hence, the first Muharram will begin on Sunday (July 31). According to a statement released by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
