Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman Sets Guidelines for Fitrana, Fidya, and Kaffara Payments
In a recent announcement, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the former chairman of the Ruet-e-Halal Committee and a renowned religious scholar, has outlined the amounts for Fitrana, Fidya, and Kaffara payments concerning fasting during Ramadan.
According to Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the standard Fitrana is established as two kilograms of wheat flour, with Fidya set at 300 rupees for each missed day of fasting. It is emphasized that the minimum amount for Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya stands at 300 rupees per person. However, individuals of higher financial means are encouraged to contribute in accordance with their wealth.
For those opting to pay Fitrana using alternative items such as barley, dates, raisins, or cheese, the rates are as follows:
- Barley: Four kilograms for Fitrana and 600 rupees for one day’s Fidya.
- Dates: Four kilograms for Fitrana and 2400 rupees for one day’s Fidya.
- Raisins: Four kilograms for Fitrana and 4400 rupees for one day’s Fidya.
Regarding Kaffara, which is the compensation for breaking a fast, it involves feeding two meals to 60 needy individuals. The cost is detailed as follows:
- Wheat Flour: 18,000 rupees for two kilograms.
- Barley: 36,000 rupees for four kilograms.
- Dates: 144,000 rupees for four kilograms.
- Raisins: 264,000 rupees for four kilograms.
These amounts are stipulated as the minimum for Fitrana, Fidya, and Kaffara based on wheat. However, those who are more financially fortunate are urged to contribute according to their means, considering the rates for barley, dates, raisins, or cheese.
It’s essential to note that Sadaqat-ul-Fitr must be paid before the Eid prayer, and the head of the household is responsible for paying Fitrana on behalf of their dependents, including their spouse and children.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman’s guidelines serve to ensure the fulfillment of religious obligations while accommodating various financial capacities within the Muslim community.
