In a recent development, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has introduced a new regulation affecting Umrah pilgrims. The ministry has set a strict 3 month deadline for Umrah visitors to leave the country after their arrival.
This announcement comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to streamline the Umrah pilgrimage process and ensure better management of pilgrim stays. Under the new guidelines, Umrah visas will now be issued for a duration of three months, starting from the date of visa issuance.
The Ministry clarified that the three-month validity period for Umrah visas is contingent upon the visa not expiring after the 15th of Dhu al-Qa’dah according to the Hijri calendar. This measure aims to maintain order and facilitate smooth departures for pilgrims within the specified timeframe.
Previously, the Umrah season traditionally concluded on the 29th of Dhu al-Qa’dah. However, in light of annual Hajj seasons, the Saudi government has extended the validity of Umrah visas until the 15th of Dhu al-Qa’dah, aligning with the broader pilgrimage schedule.
This regulatory adjustment reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience for Umrah visitors while ensuring the efficient utilization of resources and infrastructure during peak pilgrimage periods.
