The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Saturday said the last solar eclipse of the year, which has already started, will not be visible in Pakistan.
The weather department added that areas surrounding the Indian Ocean, Antartica, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, South Australia, South Africa and South America will be able to witness the total solar eclipse.
It began at 10:29am PST earlier on December 4 and shall end at 2:37pm PST the same day.
Timings of the solar eclipse in the aforementioned areas are as follows.
Partial eclipse begins at 10:29 PST, total eclipse at 12:00 PST and greatest eclipse at 12:33 PST. The total eclipse ends at 13:07 PST whereas the partial eclipse ends at 14:37 PST.
What is a solar eclipse?
A solar eclipse occurs when a portion of the earth is engulfed in a shadow cast by the moon which fully or partially blocks sunlight.
This happens when the sun, moon and earth are aligned.
