PMD Announces Last Solar Eclipse of 2026, Pakistan to Miss Rare Celestial Event

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that the last solar eclipse of 2026 will occur during the night of August 12-13, but the celestial event will not be visible in Pakistan.

According to the PMD, the solar eclipse will begin at 8:34 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) on August 12, reach its maximum eclipse at 10:46 PM, and conclude at 12:58 AM on August 13.

The department said this will be the final solar eclipse of 2026, attracting skywatchers around the world. However, people in Pakistan will not be able to witness the eclipse as it will occur outside the country’s visible region.

Where Will the Solar Eclipse Be Visible?

The PMD stated that a total solar eclipse will be visible in Greenland, Iceland, Spain, and parts of Russia. Meanwhile, a partial solar eclipse can be observed across Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

Astronomers note that a total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon completely blocks the Sun, while a partial solar eclipse happens when only a portion of the Sun is covered.

Partial Lunar Eclipse on August 28

The Pakistan Meteorological Department also confirmed that a partial lunar eclipse will occur on August 28, 2026. Similar to the solar eclipse, the lunar eclipse will not be visible in Pakistan.
