Apna Ghar Mehfooz Ghar Scheme: Government Announces Rs 500,000 for Roof Repairs

The Punjab Apna Ghar Mehfooz Ghar Scheme has received a major boost after the Punjab government announced financial assistance of up to Rs 500,000 for eligible families to repair or rebuild damaged house roofs. The announcement was made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during a ceremony in Lahore.

The government is increasing its housing programmes to ensure that safe and affordable housing is available for those in need, the Chief Minister said. The home repair scheme will allow owners of houses whose roofs are unsafe or damaged to get up to Rs 500,000 in financial aid to build or repair their house.

Maryam Nawaz said the government is committed to improving housing conditions across Punjab. She pointed out that the success of the Apna Ghar Program had resulted in over 200,000 houses built in two years. Besides, families who did not have land ownership have received five-marla residential plots to build their own houses.

The Chief Minister also said that the aim of the housing scheme in Punjab is to provide safe and decent homes for all the families and lessen the financial pressures on poor people.

Development Projects Across Punjab

Additionally, Maryam Nawaz stated that the provincial government was not only working on development projects in Lahore but in all districts of Punjab. She said that modern facilities are being installed in government schools, while Nawaz Sharif Schools will be opened in all tehsils to facilitate access to quality education.

She also said that the government has allocated Rs 25 billion for a student nutrition programme. The program provides almost 1.2 million children with milk and biscuits every day, and it has also contributed to the enrolment of children in public schools.

Focus on Transport and Modern Skills

The Punjab government is also working on improving public transport by introducing modern air-conditioned buses in various cities. Meanwhile, the authorities are endeavoring to upgrade water supply and sanitation facilities in the province.

Maryam Nawaz told the students that AI and Machine Learning will open doors to good job opportunities in Pakistan and globally and encouraged them to learn these technologies for the future.
