Reports claiming that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is being shut down have been declared false by BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid.
In an online public hearing (e-Kachehri), Senator Rubina Khalid explained that the rumours of closure of the BISP, which have been doing the rounds on social media and other platforms, are utterly groundless. She advised the public not to trust unverified information and assured the beneficiaries that the programme is continuing as normal.
Chairperson Warns Against False Information
The false information about the Benazir Income Support Programme is misleading the poor and deserving families who are relying on the programme for financial assistance, Senator Rubina Khalid said.
She reminded beneficiaries to accept only official announcements of BISP for any updates on payment, registration and programme policies.
BISP Serves All Pakistanis Regardless of Politics
During the e-Kachehri, a caller pointed out that the BISP is a national welfare program that provides benefits to eligible citizens regardless of province and political party.
Responding to the comment, Senator Rubina Khalid said the programme reflects the vision of the late Benazir Bhutto, who wanted to provide financial support to vulnerable and deserving families throughout the country.
BISP Is a Public Welfare Programme
The BISP Chairperson again said that the programme has nothing to do with any political party and it’s all about the people of Pakistan.
She assured beneficiaries that the Benazir Income Support Programme was continuing its assistance to low-income families and asked the citizens to stop spreading false information about the future of the programme.
The clarification comes after a lot of people are speculating online, which brings a blissful news to millions of families who are getting financial support from BISP in Pakistan.
