BISP Latest Update: Mobile SIM-Based Digital Wallets to Replace Old Payment Method

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has introduced a major update in its payment system, changing how financial assistance will be delivered to millions of registered beneficiaries across Pakistan.
The new mechanism will not require BISP payments to made at traditional cash distribution centers or through ATM withdrawals. Eligible beneficiaries, however, will get their financial aid directly into their digital wallet accounts associat with a Benazir mobile SIM.
The initiative falls under the umbrella of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts towards a cashless economy and digital financial inclusion, which seek to create transparency, minimize delays and ensure direct transfers to deserving families.
Shift from Traditional Payment System
In the past BISP beneficiaries used to receive their stipends from the fixed payment centers at BISP or from the ATM cards issued by the partner banks. However, the system often faced issues such as long queues, delays, and accessibility challenges in remote areas.
The new update designed to streamline the process by moving the funds directly to people’s mobile wallets in the form of digital wallets, which will make financial aid more accessible and secure.
Government’s Cashless Economy Vision
In terms of the official instructions that connected with the government’s digital transformation agenda, the subsequent phase of the Benazir Kafalat Programme will released only through the digital wallet accounts opened with Benazir mobile SIMs.
The program is in line with the national vision to encourage financial digitization, transparency in welfare distribution and less reliance on physical cash handling systems.
Important Instructions for Beneficiaries
All registered beneficiaries have asked by BISP authorities to get their Benazir mobile SIM. People who have not finished the process are recommended to go to their nearest BISP office soon.
The beneficiaries required to bring their personal mobile phones to go through the registration and activation process of the digital wallet system.
Deadline Announced
The deadline for getting the free mobile SIM by the name Benazir is June 15. This is the date by which payment shall made via the new digital wallet system only.
The launch of the digital wallet payment system is a crucial move towards modernizing Pakistan’s social welfare delivery system. It seeks to enhance efficiency and transparency, but it strongly encouraged that beneficiaries register before the deadline to ensure that they do not interrupt their future payments.
